OFFICIAL APPLICATION DEADLINES
AND OUT OF STATE LICENSE AND TAG PRICES FOR 2008

(Adult immediate-family member must possess a deer/elk license.)

STEPS TO RECEIVE YOUR LICENSE/TAGS

• Outfitter Sponsored Licenses for Elk and Deer

  • We must have your hunt deposit before we are able to send you your outfitter-sponsored license applications.  Please mail to Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters your initial 50% deposit for the hunt.    When we receive your deposit, we will send you an outfitter-sponsored guaranteed license application and an outfitter certification form.  MFWP now has outfitter sponsored applications available online.  If you want to apply online we will email you the instructions and assist you through the online application process. 
     
  • Once you receive the license application and the outfitter certification, complete these documents and mail to Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters with a certified check made out to Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks for the amount of the license(s).  (Prices vary slightly each year.)  ABO will hand deliver your check and these completed documents directly to Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks. This paragraph is not applicable if you apply online.
     
  • All OF THIS MUST BE DONE BY MARCH 5.  This is to ensure that we do not miss the March 15 deadline.  WE MUST RECEIVE ALL DOCUMENTS AND PAYMENTS 10 DAYS PRIOR TO THE LISTED OFFICIAL DEADLINES TO ENSURE COMPLETED INFORMATION AND DELIVERY.
     
• General Draw & Special Draw Licenses and Tags
   
  • For elk/deer, call for an application or apply online with Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, 406-444-2950, www.fwp.mt.gov for the general draw. 
     
  • For black bear or wolf, call for an application or apply online with Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, 406-444-2950, www.fwp.mt.gov to purchase a guaranteed tag. 
     
  • For mountain goat, moose and bison, call Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, 406-444-2950, and get on the mailing list for non resident tags.  Give them your name and address. MFWP will mail you forms to complete and return to them in order for you to participate in the tag drawing.  Or, you can apply online.  Make sure you put in for mountain goat area 323 or 329, for moose area 316 or 516.  If you draw a tag (tag drawings are the last week of June), please contact ABO with the dates you want to hunt.  Once the dates are confirmed, you book your hunt by sending us a 50% deposit.
     
  • For Bighorn sheep, call for an application or apply online with Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, 406-444-2950, www.fwp.mt.gov .  You must apply for a specific area.  Be sure to check with Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters (406-579-3866) before applying to verify our bighorn sheep areas.

Dates & Prices for 2009 are released by Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks in early February.

*The tag is not guaranteed but the tag price is refundable if not drawn. However, there is a $5 non-refundable drawing fee.
